Whoo, nearly two months! Now this is much more like me. Ah, it's good to be back.

Anyway, I probably owe a bigger post about how things went for winter break, but I don't think that's likely to happen till later tonight at the earliest. As it is, this is just a notice for me following up on [livejournal.com profile] ferebend and whoever he took it from that I'm resolving to read enough books that are non-linguistic this year. God knows, I didn't do so good last year in some ways with this. So I'm setting the bar at least 50, with the additional condition that at least 5 of them be non-manga Japanese books. (Whether or not manga should count in this is debatable... I might put them in, but I'll try to get to 50 without them.)

So, book #1!

Book: Cartoon History of the Modern World, Volume 1
Author: Larry Gonick
Provenance: Indigo; the one on Ste. Catharine.

I already knocked this one off, as I usually do with these, in under a day. Pretty easy reading, but informative. I think he's somewhat more bitter here than in the previous volumes of the series, but for easy, broad history in an accessible form, it's hard to beat.

Now, off to campus for the first time this year! I don't know if I have grad seminar or not today, but I've got other stuff to do, so it'll wash out.
